EDUCATIONAL VISION

 Striving to enhance student learning and promote student creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and communication through the balanced, authentic and intentional integration of technology in the classroom. Fundamental to accomplishing this vision is providing professional development that meets the diverse needs of the staff as they are vital to a successful educational technology program. An additional component of this vision is working with parents to understand the benefits of technology in schools and help support their children’s balanced use of technology.

CAREER PROFILE

Twenty-five years of learning about and working in middle level and elementary education as a teacher, technology facilitator and coordinator has provided a deep, conceptual understanding and foundation for building and sustaining a progressive and successful educational technology program.

  • Developed, through a Master’s program in Educational Technology, the ability to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate the essential elements of a successful integrated educational technology program.
  • Visited and learned about exemplary educational technology programs in a variety of schools in the United States by conducting an on the road one-year research project.
  • Master classroom teacher with decades of experience integrating technology in creative and meaningful ways that enhanced student learning.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS

American Embassy Middle School (Grades EC-5), New Delhi, INDIA                      2011 to present

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR

Challenged to support the elementary school during the transition from a traditional pull-out technology education program featuring carts of laptops to a full integration program featuring a 1-1 iPad program for 700+ students. Provided differentiated professional development for 100+ staff members including teachers, instructional assistants and support personnel in a collaborative atmosphere; and facilitated a positive professional relationship with parents. Was a contributing member on a number of AES teams which:

  • Designed, developed, implemented and evaluated the 1-1 iPad program for the elementary school;
  • Partnered with the elementary school librarian and literacy coordinator to work with each grade level team to develop technology rich, inquiry based, non-fiction units using the TPACK planning model;
  • Developed and implemented a K- 5 digital citizenship education program;
  • Analyzed faculty and staff technology training needs and created differentiated professional development opportunities to address those needs;
  • Developed and communicated a yearly vision for technology in the elementary school;
  • Facilitated the transition to cloud based services including Google App fro Education, Dropbox and Evernote;
  • Facilitated the elementary school’s transition to Veracross as our student information system;
  • Organized parent events to share the direction of our technology program and provide support for parents;
  • Helped grow a robust community of 500+ classroom and student blogs using the WordPress platform;
  • Facilitated performance analysis discussions using the ADDIE model;
  • Organized and executed the twice yearly computer based MAP external assessment;
  • Organized and lead the elementary school technology committee;
  • Worked with the administration team, coaches, and coordinators regarding school strategic plans;
  • Collaborated with AES tech team on school wide technology initiatives;
  • Created the technology budget for the elementary school;
  • Interviewed and hired technology support staff;

MIDDLE SCHOOL TECHNOLOGY FACILITATOR (Part Time)

Helped establish the position of technology facilitator to direct and manage various tasks related to the integration of technology in the middle school.

  • Worked with the Middle School Technology Coordinator to develop the vision for technology use in the middle school;
  • Helped analyze and create professional development opportunities for middle school teachers;
  • Launched the WordPress blogging platform for middle school teachers and students;
  • Co-planned with teachers across a wide range of content areas on how to effectively integrate technology in their classrooms;
